About Us

AMERICAN DESIGNED. AMERICAN BUILT.

AgriLynk’s journey began over 15 years ago in Southern California, where Troy Conner, a dedicated cut flower and greens grower, was grappling with the challenges of efficiently managing his farm’s field crops. With rising water and labor costs, the traditional methods of manually testing soil moisture became increasingly impractical. The existing mechanical soil tensiometers, though useful, required extensive maintenance and offered limited flexibility. The electronic systems available at the time were prohibitively expensive and lacked the adaptability that Troy’s diverse fields demanded.

Driven by the need for a more efficient and cost-effective solution, Troy embarked on a mission to develop his own system. However, he soon recognized that bringing his vision to life required a deeper level of technical expertise. Enter Don Vaniman, a close friend and fellow innovator whom Troy had collaborated with for over a decade on a community-focused project growing vegetables for local rescue missions and food pantries. Don, an accomplished engineer and owner of a manufacturing company, shared Troy’s passion for agricultural innovation.

Combining Troy’s agricultural insights with Don’s expertise in electrical engineering and manufacturing, the duo set out to create a solution that would revolutionize farm management. Their goal was ambitious yet clear: to develop a comprehensive, affordable system that would empower farmers of all sizes to harness the power of technology. They envisioned a platform that would provide real-time, wireless monitoring and control capabilities, enabling farmers to make data-driven decisions that would enhance crop yield and resource efficiency.

The result of their collaboration was AgriLynk—a cutting-edge platform that democratizes access to advanced agricultural technology. Today, AgriLynk stands as a testament to their commitment to innovation, providing farmers across the country with affordable, state-of-the-art tools that streamline farm operations and improve productivity. From its humble beginnings in Southern California to its current role as a leader in AgTech, AgriLynk continues to support farmers in their quest for more efficient, sustainable farming practices.

The AgriLynk system has been field tested (no pun intended) for many years on Troy’s Southern California farm, which gave the team ample fields to develop the AgriLynk system along with unique challenges such as wells, reservoirs, varied terrain and soil type as well as compost piles. This gave the team a diverse proving ground to ensure AgriLynk will work in any type of field or grove, in any type of soil. The wells and reservoirs provided the opportunity to expand beyond soil moisture and automated irrigation and that’s when Troy and Don really understood the magnitude of what they’d created. AgriLynk is incredible at monitoring soil moisture levels, turning on and off automated valves for fully automated irrigation, and modifying existing watering schedules to ensure crops are watered when then need it, and only when they need it, and never applying too much or too little water. However, their work with the wells and reservoirs proved that they were only scratching the surface with AgriLynk’s capabilities. AgriLynk is essentially able to monitor any sensor, not just moisture sensors. So, the system can handle well pressure sensors, flow meters, depth sensors, temperature sensors, door sensors, literally any electronic sensor used in farm applications.  Don and Troy quickly added well and reservoir monitoring to AgriLynk’s capabilities, and additionally functionality comes online as fast as Don and Troy can dream up the application, configure AgriLynk to handle the sensor, and test the new system.

AgriLynk has been developed by farmers, for farmers. So unlike some of the other AgTech systems that are out there, AgriLynk was developed by someone who actually uses it on a fully operational farm. Which means you get a system that’s designed and tested to work in the real world. Your world.
